Miscible with organic solvents such as water, ethanol, ether and carbon tetrachloride, insoluble in carbon disulfide.Flammable, corrosive, strong irritant, can cause burns to human body.Flammable, its vapor and air can form an explosive mixture, when exposed to open flame, high heat can cause combustion and explosion.In contact with chromic acid, sodium peroxide, nitric acid or other oxidizing agents, there is a risk of explosion.

Glacial acetic acid is mainly used in the synthesis of vinyl acetate, acetate fiber, acetate, metal acetates and halogenated acetic acid. It is also an important raw material for pharmaceuticals, dyestuffs, pesticides and other organic synthesis. In addition, it has a wide range of applications in the manufacture of photographic drugs, cellulose acetate, fabric printing and dyeing, and the rubber industry, as well as in the manufacture of plastics, solvents for dyes, photographic, pharmaceutical, pesticide, and other raw materials for organic synthesis.It is also used as an acidity regulator, acidifier, pickling agent, flavor enhancer, spice, etc. Meanwhile, glacial acetic acid has a strong antifungal effect, so it is used in clinical practice to treat gray nails, also known as onychomycosis, a fungal infection.
