Ethyl acrylate, chemical formula C5H8O2, is a colorless, transparent liquid with a pungent, irritating odor. Its physical properties include: density 0.9405g/cm³, melting point below -72°C, boiling point 99.8°C, flash point 15.56°C (open cup), and refractive index 1.404. Ethyl acrylate is soluble in water, ethanol, and ether, but has low solubility in these solvents. Chemical Properties Ethyl acrylate is a flammable organic compound, its vapor and air can form explosive mixtures, when exposed to open flame, high heat can cause combustion and explosion. It can react strongly with oxidizer. Its vapor is heavier than air, can diffuse to far away places in the lower place, and will catch fire when it meets the fire source. In addition, ethyl acrylate is easy to self-polymerization, polymerization reaction with the rise in temperature and the rapid intensification of the temperature exceeds 20 ºC, can be polymerized heat accumulation, causing an explosion.

Main Uses Ethyl acrylate is mainly used in the preparation of plastics, resins and other polymers, can also be used as organic synthesis intermediates. It can also be used in the manufacture of coatings, adhesives, leather processing treatments, textile auxiliaries, paint additives and so on. In addition, the copolymer of ethyl acrylate and ethylene is a hot-melt adhesive, and the copolymer with 5% chloroethyl vinyl is used in the manufacture of plastics.
